Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. When she was just five her family moved to Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. Emma decided to become an actor in the age of six. Over the course of several years, she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing, dancing and acting. At the age of 10, she had performed and taken the role of lead in a number of Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. In 1999 casting began with the casting process for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents stumbled upon Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. After a string of auditions for eight consecutive times, producers David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint they were cast as the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first film role was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film set records for beginning-day and weekend-opening sales and also was the highest-grossing production in the year 2001. The film has been praised by critics for its film, as well as the performances given by three of the main young actors. The widely distributed British publication The Daily Telegraph called her acting performance as admirable. Then Emma was nominated for five prizes for her work in the film, winning The Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film.
